‘TigerTime Now’ was a campaign established by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and was a key player among charities fighting to protect and save tigers in the wild.
Tigers are exploited primarily through poaching and illegal wildlife trade. Their body parts, including skins, bones, teeth, claws, and organs, are highly sought after for traditional medicine, jewelry, clothing, and as status symbols. Tiger farms, which breed and slaughter tigers for their parts, also contribute significantly to this illegal trade.
Tigers also face habitat loss from deforestation for agriculture, urbanisation and infrastructure development. With the increase of human activity in wild areas have led to an increase of Human-Wildlife conflict as the habitat continuously shrinks leading to unfortunate retaliatory killings.
Also, due to the ‘selfie’ culture, tigers are exploited in tourism as part of a running trend of putting these animals under poor conditions through which they can be forced as props to pose in tourist’s photos. The campaign is on a mission to put a stop to these crimes by relocating tigers in safe protected wildlife reserves.
