With 24 years of creating, Yaya Han is a costume designer, cosplay entertainer and author. She started cosplaying from 1999 and is completely self-taught. I first came across Yaya Han when I discovered the world of Cosplaying in 2011 and took great admiration on Yaya’s work, especially her sewing craftmanship. To this day, Yaya Han has made 450 costumes and still growing – her costumes are mainly from the anime/manga, comic books, video games and Sci-Fi genres but she has also made her own designs.

I was very fortunate to meet Yaya twice at Comic Cons in London. Her passion for costume making is contagious and it inspired me to begin creating outfits myself, especially how we loved talking about the beauty of fabrics for ages!
