We can say a lot about Santana’s style and how his music brought Latin Rock movement into the limelight during the 60s and 70s. I greatly admire how his influence of afro-Cuban percussions has helped broaden listeners’ appreciation in such genre and enjoy the complex rhythms that Santana has in his tracks.
You’ll notice over the years he has done multiple tracks with other musicians and gave them a space to shine too, it’s almost a testament to what he enjoys the most in creating music – soulful player who understands the power of collaboration.
And let’s not forget how he has help develop the PRS (Paul Reed Smith) guitars. I love the clean sounds that the PRS has which I don’t often feel or hear in the popular Fender or Gibson guitars (still amazing guitars!). But let’s face it, the PRS wouldn’t have been as popular if it wasn’t for Santana’s influence!
I saw Carlos Santana live at the O2 Arena in 2010. It was such enjoyable night and I still have the tour t-shirt and beanie hat that I wear to this day.
